ABOUT US
MEET YOUR DENTIST
For me, being a dentist is far more than filling cavities. It’s about improving the smiles & lives of my patients. I do my best to ensure my patients’ absolute comfort in my dental chair, allowing them to express their fears & concerns. I’ve committed myself to going above and beyond to ensure my patients’ health and satisfaction. Most importantly, I treat each patient as though they were a member of my family.
EDUCATION AND CONTINUING EDUCATION
I began my education at the Medical University of Southern Africa, where I graduated as a Dental Therapist in 1996. This was followed by my completion of a Degree in Dentistry at the University of Pretoria in 2007. I have also completed a Programme for Management Development at the Gordon Institute of Business Science in 2012. Since graduating, I have actively pursued continuing education in many new techniques that dentistry has to offer.

FAQ’S
Answers to some of the most commonly asked questions our patients ask
MY TEETH ARE IN A GOOD CONDITION. DO I REALLY NEED TO SEE A DENTIST EVERY 6 MONTHS ?
Your teeth may be in a good condition, but it’s still important to see the dentist regularly because problems can exist without one knowing, for example gum (periodontal) disease. Your smile is important, and your dentist can help keep your smile healthy.
I AM SCARED OF A DENTIST AND TERRIFIED OF A DENTAL INJECTION. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO OVERCOME THIS FEAR ?
Yes. A good place to start would be to tell your dentist about your dental phobia. Your dentist would then be able to factor this into his or her treatment protocol, and do everything possible to ensure that you are comfortable during your appointment. We do use several medicaments & techniques that allow for painless injections. One also has the option to request sedation.
AT WHAT AGE SHOULD I START TAKING MY CHILD TO SEE A DENTIST ?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children first see a dentist as early as 6 months of age (when the first teeth erupt) & no later than one year of age. During this time, your child’s baby teeth will be erupting and your dentist can examine the health of your child’s first few teeth. After the first visit, it is important to schedule regular check-ups every 6 months.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I SEE THE DENTIST ?
One should do a regular check-up at least once every 6 months. Patients who are at a greater risk for oral cancer or gum disease may be required to see the dentist more than twice a year. Your dentist will help determine how often you should attend for a routine consultation & cleaning.
WHAT SHOULD I CARRY TO MY FIRST VISIT ?
- Proof of Identification: Identity Document / Birth Certificate (Child) / Passport
- Medical Aid Card for those on a medical aid
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT ?
We are contracted with several dental administrators and medical aid providers Please contact us to find out if we are contracted to your medical aid. We also accept the following:
-
- Credit & Debit Cards
- EFT’s
CAN I USE MY MEDICAL AID CARD FOR A CLOSE FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER WHO IS NOT A LISTED DEPENDANT ON MY MEDICAL AID ?
Any person not listed as a dependent cannot be claimed for on a particular medical aid. This is a non-fraudulent practice. Any member that is not on a medical scheme will have to be consulted with & treated as a private / cash patient.
DO YOU OFFER PAYMENT TERMS ?
We are unable to provide payment terms. We offer reasonably priced dental treatments that need to be settled in cash or by card, or by your medical aid provider.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT SHOW UP FOR AN APPOINTMENT ?
We charge a fee of R100 for appointment not kept. We require a 24h notice period for rescheduling or cancelling an appointment. This will have to be paid prior to any future treatments being rendered.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY MEDICAL AID DOES NOT PAY FOR MY TREATMENT OR PARTS OF MY TREATMENT ?
When an account remains wholly or partially unpaid, the onus rests on the main member to settle the unpaid balance. We do pre-authorise treatments prior to your appointment, however this is not a guarantee for payment.
I AM ON THE SISONKE MEDICAL AID. DO I NEED TO PAY ANY CO-PAYMENT? AND WHAT IS THE AMOUNT FOR THE CO-PAYMENT ?
Yes, a 20% co-payment is applicable to Sisonke patients on the Heritage Plan, taking into account that we are a private practice. The co-payment due depends on the total cost of the treatment at any specific visit. Usually this needs to be settled immediately after your appointment.
I AM A DISCOVERY KEY-CARE PATIENT. DO YOU ACCEPT KEYCARE ?
Yes, we accept all options on the Discovery Medical Scheme.
